The Light Has PeakedSummer Solstice The longest day of the year today, marking the Sun’s peak strength in the northern hemisphere. From here, daylight begins its slow retreat — a natural cue to start turning our energy inward. Father’s Day (ancestral worship) A fitting day to honor paternal figures, which in Vedic thought connects beautifully to the Sun itself — the cosmic father, the giver of life, vitality, and authority (Surya as karaka for father in Jyotish). Take a moment today to offer gratitude, whether through a simple prayer, an Aditya Hridayam recitation, or a quiet acknowledgment to your own father and ancestors. Dakshinayana Begins With the solstice, the Sun begins its southward journey — Dakshinayana, the “night of the Devas” in Vedic cosmology. This six-month phase is traditionally associated with introspection, ancestor worship (Pitru-related rites), and a more inward, restorative spiritual practice — in contrast to the externally expansive energy of Uttarayana. Shifting Energy: Preparing for Chaturmaas Dakshinayana sets the stage for Chaturmaas, the sacred four-month period beginning with Devshayani Ekadashi, when Lord Vishnu is said to enter cosmic rest. I will have a full detailed video on that. The outward, fiery energy of summer is giving way to something quieter. Let this shift be felt — not rushed. With light and reflection, Hari Om Tat Sat.
