There is a form of Shiva that most people fear to even speak of

Not because he is dangerous — but because he sees everything. Every action. Every intention. Every moment of time that has passed and every moment yet to come.

His name is Kaal Bhairav — the Lord of Time, the fierce guardian of the cosmos, the one who holds the staff of death and the power to liberate the soul from the cycle of birth and rebirth.

The story goes that once, in the celestial assembly, Brahma became arrogant. He claimed supremacy over all creation. Shiva, in his infinite wisdom, took the form of Kaal Bhairav — and in one swift movement, cut off one of Brahma’s five heads with his thumbnail.

It was not an act of anger. It was an act of cosmic correction.

Kaal Bhairav carries that severed head as a reminder
…that ego, no matter how elevated, has a limit
…that time — Kaal — is the ultimate truth.
And that Bhairav is its guardian.

He is worshipped especially on Ashtami — the 8th lunar day — when his energy is most accessible to devotees.

Kaal Bhairav Ashtami

USA (PDT): Jun 7, 2:55 pm — Jun 8, 2:54 pm India (IST): Jun 8, 3:25 am — Jun 9, 3:24 am

Mantra:

Om Kaal Bhairavaya Namah
ॐ काल भैरवाय नमः

Chant 108 times. Ask Kaal Bhairav for protection, removal of obstacles, and freedom from fear.

In Jyotish, Kaal Bhairav is associated with Saturn and Rahu — the karmic planets. If your chart has a difficult Saturn or Rahu placement, this is one of the most powerful days to seek relief.

May Kaal Bhairav protect you, remove all obstacles from your path, and grant you the courage to face time itself. 🙏

Wishing you an auspicious Kaal Bhairav Ashtami.

Namaste,
