Today is Ananta Chaturdashi, a day to honour Vishnu as Ananta, the Endless One. Lord Vishnu rests upon Shesha Naag, the great serpent whose is also known as Ananta. The world may be full of movement, but beneath it is something steady enough to hold it – that is Shesha Naag. We often pray for strength so we can rise. But today, consider another kind of strength: the ability to support someone else without needing to be seen. Be the person who listens without rushing to advise. Take one task off someone’s shoulders. Encourage a dream they are almost ready to abandon. As Bette Midler would say: Be the wind beneath someone’s wings. Be someone’s hero. May I be steady when someone needs me. Om Anantaya Namah.
